HOUSTON -- The case that led to the resignation of Harris County District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal turned into a big payday for the lawyer who filed the lawsuit.
Attorney Lloyd Kelley filed a civil rights lawsuit against the county over the arrests of Sean and Erik Ibarra.
They had been taking pictures of a neighborhood drug bust.
The county settled the lawsuit, admitting the pair had been wrongfully arrested. The county ended up paying the brothers about $2 million.
The case also uncovered embarrassing e-mails on the computer of former DA Rosenthal.
On Tuesday, the county reached a settlement on the fees to be paid to Kelley and the judge in the case signed off. Kelley will get $1.4 million in attorney fees after asking for $4.4 million.
