Crucifix installed at new co-cathedral
03:35 PM CDT on Tuesday, August 7, 2007
A hand-carved crucifix was put in place Tuesday morning at the new Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart downtown.
The 12-foot structure is suspended from the ceiling. It's made out of lindenwood.
The artist, Edmund Rabanser, is from Ortesei, Italy.
The way it was carved has Jesus Christ gazing toward the altar.
Rabanser is sculpting several pieces for the new co-cathedral, which will serve the Houston area's 1.3 million Catholics.
