Heights house collapses on workers
12:23 PM CDT on Thursday, June 7, 2007
A couple of workers were rushed to the hospital Thursday morning after a house in the Heights fell on them.
The men were working beneath the home in the 900 block of Oxford.
They had jacked it up to level it, but the jacks apparently malfunctioned and the house collapsed.
One worker was able to get out, but Houston firefighters rescued the other man who was trapped.
"Our rescue crews got a solid footing and they jacked the house up," said HFD District Chief Paul Broussard. "And dug out a little underneath it and then they were able to slide him out."

Both victims were rescued by firefighters.
Both were alert and conscious when they were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
It's believed one worker has a broken leg and the other was being checked out as a precaution.
