Old HISD building to be demolished today

A building used by HISD for 40 years will be demolished Thursday afternoon.

The walls will come down at 4 p.m.
It served as the original adminstration building and Will Rogers Elementary School in the 3800 block of Richmond.
The building is set to be demolished at 4 p.m.
For years, the building has been a thorn in HISD's side because of leaking and other problems.
The administration moved into a new building after spring break of 2005, and they are happy to be there.
Officials said the reason why they aren't renovating is because it costs about the same.
Some new luxury apartments, a fitness center and a Costco are slated to take the place of the building.
