A suspect was wounded by an undercover police officer Thursday in the parking lot of Bonnie's Beef and Seafood in the 6800 block of the Gulf Freeway.

The site of the incident was the parking lot of Bonnie's Beef and Seafood where the owner and customers had complained about vehicle break-ins during the lunch hour. There had been a rash of robberies in which car windows were broken and cell phones and stereos were stolen.

The sting operation allegedly witnessed two men breaking into a car Thursday afternoon.

When police moved in, one suspect fled on foot and was captured, according to sources. The second remained in the car and rammed the police vehicle several times. At that time, the officer fired several times at the driver wounding him twice in the leg and once in the groin.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital; his condition is unknown.
