HOUSTON - Summer's back. We face a week of above-normal temperatures and there's nothing we can do about it but relish in our sweat for another ... week!
We see big temperature swings in Houston during the autumn months. It can change from t-shirt weather to full-on jacket weather in a matter of days, if not hours. The same rings true this year and by next Thursday, we may catch a real taste of this Texas phenomenon. At that time, a cold front could finally pull some real autumn air into Houston.
Next week's front will be mainly, a "dry front", where it kicks our humidity out of the region and replaces it with a, "Rocky mountain feel." Just about overnight, we'll see the type of weather you find yourself reaching for an extra glass of water, if not fighting full-on, chapped lips. But, your hair will extremely manageable with the frizzies gone. At night, temperatures will fall to near the dew point which translates to 40s -- if not upper 30s in the typical cold spots like Conroe and Wharton.
In the weeks to follow we'll see even stronger fronts. Frosty mornings will be followed by highs in the 50s and 60s. That's the picture of late-fall in Houston and certainly as we head toward November, it's a scenario that could easily happen. We may not see it in the next 10 days, or even the next three weeks, but beyond that the pendulum can really swing toward the chilly side!
