Disoriented man held in beating death

BAYOU VISTA, Texas -- Galveston County investigators are questioning a man they said was found disoriented near a vehicle that had the body of a man who had been beaten to death Monday morning.
Police were called to a lot in the 1100 block of Sailfish in the waterfront community of Bayou Vista just before 6 a.m. Residents had initially called in to report a suspicious person after a shirtless man was seen wandering through the neighborhood of homes that line a series of canals along Galveston Bay.
As an officer questioned the man, another officer found a body in a nearby sports utility vehicle. The unidentified man in the SUV had been beaten to death, said investigators.
Police believe the man was actually killed in Houston and that the man who was being questioned was attempting to find a place to dump the body.
