By Sara McDonald / The Daily News

KEMAH — A 2-year-old boy drowned Wednesday afternoon at Watergate Marina when he wandered away from one of his parents and fell into the swimming pool.

The boy, whose name was not released, was taken to Christus St. John Hospital in Nassau Bay where he was pronounced dead.

The toddler’s family noticed the boy was missing and looked for him for about five to 10 minutes when they found him in the pool, Kemah volunteer Fire Chief Larry Suniga said.

Medical crews worked to revive him for about seven minutes before taking him to the hospital.

The marina’s east pool was a few feet away from the pier where his parent was, Suniga said.

Suniga said he didn’t know how deep the pool was.

It was not immediately clear which parent the boy was with or what they were doing at the marina, 1500 Marina Bay Drive.

Suniga said he didn’t know where the family was from.
