GALVESTON, Texas — A Houston man says his dream vacation turned into a nightmare when he got into an altercation with another passenger on a cruise ship.

While you can’t fit your expectations for a trip in your luggage, everyone carries them aboard.

But the Chapman family never expected their vacation to lead to a bloody brawl, 20 stitches and lots of pain relievers.

“I had blood in my eyes. I had blood pouring down my face,” Christopher Chapman said. “My head has been throbbing. It’s been throbbing for all these days.”

The Chapmans say they were having a good time in the cruise ship’s nightclub when a passenger started beating three members of the family with a metal baton.

“He was just watching us, leaning by the bar by himself,” Brenda Chapman said.

A Carnival spokesperson said the man was removed from the ship in Jamaica as a result.  They confirmed the altercation happened and said the FBI is handling the investigation.

“I wanted to fly home when we got to Jamaica. That’s how bad it was,” Krystal Chapman said.

But the family had to stay onboard the ship until Sunday, a full 7 days after the fight.

“I’ll never get on a cruise again. Never,” Christopher Chapman said.
