GALVESTON — A Jamaica Beach woman died in a two-car crash on FM 3005 Friday afternoon.

The Daily News

Vivian Bass, 47, was headed east on FM 3005 when she turned left onto Cove View Boulevard shortly after 1 p.m. As she turned, her car collided with a westbound car carrying three men.

Bass, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The three men in the other car went by ambulance to a University of Texas Medical Branch hospital, where they were being treated late Friday.

While police reports indicated Bass was responsible for the crash by turning in front of the other car, evidence indicated the car containing the men was traveling “well over the speed limit,” police Sgt. Jeremy Schwartz said.

Officers also said they found prescription pills in the men’s car, and Schwartz said at least one of that car’s occupants could face charges.

FM 3005 was closed to westbound traffic for about three hours. Officers diverted traffic onto Stewart Road by 89th Street.
