LA MARQUE — A La Marque man was hospitalized after another man allegedly ran over him with his own truck Wednesday night, police said.
La Marque police Sgt. Mike Kelemen said Grady Kane and Craig Sanders, both 34-year-old La Marque residents, were inside a house on the 400 block of Edgar Street when witnesses said Sanders drove off in Kane’s 1990 Mazda truck without permission.
Cane ran after his truck, and witnesses told police Sanders ran a stop sign and struck Cane with the truck near the intersection of Nashby Street and Johnson Street, Kelemen said.
A police officer nearby heard the incident and went to investigate, finding Cane lying in the street and not breathing, Kelemen said.
Sanders is being held in the Galveston County Jail on $80,000 bond on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Cane was transported by ambulance to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston with lacerations to the back of his head, Kelemen said.
