01:07 PM CDT on Sunday, April 29, 2007
HOUSTON -- A man rescued by boaters from the waters of Galveston Bay died from his injuries Sunday.
Boaters rescued the three people, including the man who was airlifted from the scene in critical condition, on Saturday, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
The man and a woman were apparently swimming when their boat drifted away from them, Coast Guard petty officer Mario Romero said.
Romero said details on the man's condition at the time of the rescue were unavailable, but indicated that the boaters who rescued him tried resuscitation. He was taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
A second woman who remained on that boat was later found by another boater, the Coast Guard said. She and the other woman were taken to a port in Kemah and were reported OK.
No names were released.
