Terresa L. Vanegas was last scene leaving a Halloween party Tuesday night.
Her family had reported her as a runaway Wednesday morning.
The teen, who was a Dickinson ISD student, was last scene leaving a Halloween party on California Street, not far from where he body was eventually discovered, Tuesday night. A man on a motorbike found the body in the field just after noon Friday.
"She actually was too trusting of people, which I think is what maybe caused all this," her grandmother, Betty Metcalf, said. "She trusted everybody; she didn't think there was anybody that was gonna hurt her."
Investigators are treating the case as a homicide, but noted there were no clear signs about how the woman died, Dickinson police Moreno said. Police said they didn¹t know how long the body had been there, but said that is was not badly decomposed.
The Galveston County medical examiner's office was performing an autopsy Friday night.
The clothed body was found in what until recently had been the high school soccer practice field, which is about 200 yards behind the school. The body was face down in a shallow drainage ditch at the back of the field.
The bike rider called police at 12:21 p.m. to report of the discovery. The crime scene unit from the Galveston County Sheriff¹s office is helping with the investigation.
Because of where the body was classes at the school were not interrupted as police conducted their investigation, Dickinson High School principal Mike LaTouche said
