Kilo of cocaine seized during traffic stop

STAFFORD, Texas -- Fort Bend Sheriff’s Officials say a routine traffic stop netted thousands of dollars in drugs.

The drugs are worth somewhere between $15,000 and $18,000.
A deputy pulled over 29-year-old Jesus Ortiz Wednesday night in the 12700 block of the Southwest Freeway in Stafford.
Police say when it was discovered that Ortiz didn’t have a valid license, the deputy searched the car.
Upon conducting the search deputies discovered non-factory screws in the area of the passenger air bag compartment, where they found a kilo of powder cocaine, police say.

The drugs were found inside the air bag compartment.
According to police, the drugs are worth somewhere between $15,000 and $18,000.
Ortiz is behind bars now and is being charged with possession of a controlled substance.
He’s being held without bail.
