HOUSTON -– A driver was killed early Wednesday morning in a rollover crash along the North Loop frontage road near the North Freeway.
Houston police said the driver, a man in his mid-20s, died at the scene.
The man wasn't wearing a seatbelt when his small SUV rolled two or three times, according to police.
"The vehicle was traveling along the service road and, most likely at a high rate of speed, lost control and left the lane of traffic, started to roll," said an officer at the scene. "He was ejected and pronounced dead upon arrival."
The crash was reported shortly after 2 a.m. and took about three hours to clear out of the way. It shut down the freeway’s westbound frontage road along with the entrance ramp at Fulton.
There was no early word on what may have caused the man to lose control.
