Family of four, pet birds make safe escape from Harris County house fire

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- A family of four and their pet birds safely escaped a house fire in northwest Harris County overnight.

The fire broke out late Tuesday night on Heather Hill at Hazy Valley.

Firefighters with the Northwest Fire Department responded and found fire and smoke in the kitchen. They managed to put it out before the blaze consumed the entire home.

Investigators said it appeared the fire started on the stove and then spread to the walls and attic.

There were no injuries.
