HOUSTON – The family dog saved its owners during a house fire Friday night in southwest Houston.
Houston firefighters responded to a fire at a home on White Cap Lane near Beechnut Street around 3:15 a.m. Saturday morning. Firefighters found heavy flames coming from the one-story home and made a fast attack to get the fire under control.
Authorities say a man, woman and their two teenage children were home asleep when their dog started barking, waking them all. The family then saw the smoke and fire and got out of the home safely.
No one was injured during the incident, though one firefighter was treated for exhaustion at the hospital.
HFD's arson unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
