Texas A&M battles bedbugs in their dorms
09:19 AM CDT on Thursday, August 21, 2008
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Students heading off to school this fall may have some unwelcomed guests in their beds – and we don’t mean roommates.
College administrators at Texas A&M are busy trying to rid their dorms of bedbugs.
Residence life officials said the school spent $37,000 in the past year to fly in bedbug-sniffing dogs.
Pest management experts say there are several reasons why the critters are all over the place: increased international travel, bigger bedbug populations worldwide and resistance to pesticides.
