Tidwell Elementary to hold parent meeting tonight
12:26 PM CDT on Thursday, October 4, 2007
Thursday was moving day for teachers at Tidwell Elementary.
Classes were canceled Wednesday, and the students will be moved to a nearby elementary school.
That decision came after the North Forest School District said mold was found in the school. It was built more than 40 years ago.
On Wednesday, parents criticized the district for not making clear why the school was being closed.
But Thursday morning, many parents at Hilliard Elementary, where the students will be moved, seemed OK with the idea of combining the two schools.
Even though that means more than doubling the school population.
“No problem at all,” one parent said. “They got Forest Brook and Smiley Together, might as well put those small ones together too.”
Tidwell students will return to class at Hilliard on Tuesday.
The district will answer questions from parents during a meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at Hilliard.
