Emily Willis, 28, is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old.
Emily Willis, 28, was charged with sexual abuse after she was discovered engaging in sexual activity with a student.
"She's actually a nice teacher, a good teacher," said Bradley Fuquay, a student in Willis' class. "I just didn't expect that to happen."
“Katy ISD officials have placed Mrs. Emily Willis on administrative leave without pay pending final action by the Board of Trustees,” said school officials.
Willis, an eighth grade math teacher, reportedly confessed to having inappropriate sexual activity with the student several times.
She and the student were discovered allegedly engaging in sexual activity in a car around 1:45 a.m. Saturday on Greenhouse Road near West Little York.
Police were called to the scene after reports of a suspicious vehicle.
District officials sent a substitute to Willis’ classroom.
Willis appeared in court Monday.
There was a mandatory teachers meeting Monday morning at the school.
According to Katy ISD, parents will get a mass phone call with information from the school.

Emily Willis, 28, was charged with sexual abuse after she was discovered engaging in sexual activity with a student.
McDonald's principal is also meeting with all of Willis' classes Monday.
Parents who heard about the incident are outraged.
"It's ridiculous and they seem like it's OK, but it's not OK," said parent Shawn Wheeler. "It's gotten to the point of, do we need to start teaching our children ourselves. Do we keep them home. It's bad enough we can't let them play outside without keeping a watchful eye. Then we send them to school and they're not safe? That's absolutely ridiculous! I think she needs to serve time. She needs to be in there. As far as I'm concerned, she's a child predator."
"It's terrible, it's terrible," said one another parent. "A lot of things are going on as far as kids are concerned. A lot of abuse."
"Well how can you protect your children, really?" asked Luciana Morahan. "You don't know who's teaching your kids, really, do you?"
School officials say counselors will be on the campus to help students who are in need.
Willis has an engineering background and came to be a teacher through the alternative certification program.
