FREEPORT, Texas -- Freeport residents forced to evacuate because of a leak in a Dow Chemical underground pipeline have been cleared to go home.

Dow Chemical Co. officials made the announcement late Wednesday. More than 60 homes were evacuated after the leak involving a urethane product was discovered Oct. 25. No injuries were reported. The company has been paying for them to stay in hotels. Dow spokeswoman Tracie Copeland says it will take several weeks before repairs to the pipeline are completed.

Freeport is about 60 miles south of Houston.

Is Dow going to reimburse all of the evacuees for their motel rooms?
