Donald Trump attending high-profile Houston attorney's fundraiser

Donald Trump will be in town June 17 to attend a fundraiser at Houston attorney Tony Buzbee at his multi-million dollar River Oaks home.

HOUSTON - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is coming to Houston on June 17 to attend a high-profile fundraiser.

The event will be hosted in the River Oaks home of attorney Tony Buzbee.

Buzbee is a prominent trial lawyer who fought a number of high-profile cases.

"He is our Republican nominee, he is going to be in Houston and I am honored to host him," Buzbee said.

Tickets to the private event range from $5,400 to $250,000 a couple. The higher donation entitles guests to attend a special VIP reception with Trump and get their picture taken with him.

Buzbee expects 400 people to attend the event and says it has already raised $2 million for Republican causes.

Trump's controversial statements have sparked protests in some cities. At a recent rally in California, Trump supporters were attacked as they left the event.

Buzbee says the organizers are working with the Houston Police Department and the Secret Service to make sure guests are safe.

"I am all for people's right to protest," said Buzbee. "Any guest in my home, I am going to make sure they are safe."

Buzbee says he has hosted events for other candidates, including Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, who is a Democrat.

He says he doesn’t necessarily agree with everything Trump says but believes the Republican can "shake things up a bit."

"People are frustrated and I am frustrated, too," Buzbee said. "That's why a candidate like Donald Trump is refreshing."
