Dickinson police officer battling cancer retires

Dickinson police officer EJ Juarez who battled cancer has retired from the force. He spent 22 years with the Dickinson Police Department.

DICKINSON, TEXAS - A Dickinson police officer who has been fighting prostate cancer has retired from the force.

KHOU first introduced viewers to E.J. Juarez back in February when Dickinson police officers started growing goatees to raise money for Juarez’s cancer fight.

That fight isn’t over, but Juarez said he is finally stepping away so he can focus on his wife, hunting and fishing.

Juarez spent 22 years with the Dickinson Police Department.
