Montgomery County deputies investigate near child abudctions
10:15 AM CDT on Wednesday, September 3, 2008
WILLIS, Texas -- Montgomery County parents are on alert after reports of two attempted abductions of school-aged children.
According to deputies, the first incident occurred last Thursday at 5 p.m. near a bus stop in the Oak Meadows Subdivision in Willis.
Deputies said a 7-year-old boy got out of the bus at 3700 Hickory Lane when a man and woman in a faded red 1990s model Toyota 4-Runner approached him.
The boy said the pair asked him who he was with, and then asked him to get in the vehicle with them so they could give him a ride.
The victim’s mother was reportedly watching from a distance. When she realized what was happening, she said she yelled at her son and ran towards him.
That’s when the couple jumped in their vehicle and fled the scene, deputies said.
The second incident occurred the next day at about 3:45 p.m. in the Walden Subdivision.
A 13-year-old girl told authorities that while she was on her bicycle, three men inside a work van began following her.
The suspects in this case were later located, interviewed, photographed, and then released after numerous citations were issued for vehicle infractions.
The vehicle was a 1996 white Dodge van with ladders on top.
