Rape survivor's attacker released
06:50 PM CST on Monday, February 11, 2008
Lisa Wilson’s memories of the night Brian Keith Page raped her are as clear as can be, even though the attack occurred in 1985.
“All of a sudden I hear rushing footsteps behind me, and an arm went around my neck,” Wilson said.
She was in the backseat of Page’s car in an empty field on a cold, foggy night.
“I could’ve been dead,” she said.
But she survived, and she helped police catch her rapist.
“I took pieces of evidence that were lying around. A shotgun shell and a white surgical glove he had in the front seat,” she said.
A jury convicted Page of aggravated sexual assault.
He was sentenced to 50 years behind bars.
But a few weeks ago, after serving just 23 years, he was released.
And now Wilson is scared.
“I don’t want someone else to go through what I’m going through. It’s ridiculous. I’m a grandma,” she said.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said Page isn’t going anywhere. He’s housed at the Reid Center off Highway 90, and he’s monitored by GPS.
They are confident they’re tracking his every move.
Page is currently unemployed, and a spokesperson said he can’t leave the halfway house without an escort.
But Wilson isn’t taking any chances. She’s all about self defense.
“I am not afraid of him coming here. Grandma has weapons,” she said.
