Deputy Odom

Police believe the four suspects shot and killed Deputy Constable Carltrell Lewayne Odom, 22 in the 4800 block of Allendale on Nov. 30.

Odom was off-duty at the time of his death.

Police say Nickerson was the shooter.  The other three suspects are students at Jones High School.

According to police, Odom and two of his friends were standing in the parking lot of Concord Apartments when the suspects approached them wearing hooded sweatshirts. All four were armed with pistols, and ordered Odom and his friends to the ground.

They demanded money and property from the victims.

Odom resisted and began struggling with one of the suspects.  He broke free and tried to flee on foot, but Nickerson allegedly followed and fired several shots at Odom, who was struck several times.

The four suspects then fled in a black Infiniti.
