A Katy businessman accused of taking money from customers and not doing the work is now charged with felony theft.

On Thursday, a Katy woman said a local fence company took off with a thousand dollars — but didn’t do any work.

The Katy Fence Company has a big ad in the phone book and Friday morning the owner, Ronald Blake Lindsey, turned himself in to the Harris County Sheriff. He’s out on bond.

Part of the reason there was an arrest warrant out against him was because of customer complaints, like the one from Valerie Wallace.

She told 11 News that she paid Lindsey a thousand dollars up front for him to build a fence, which two months later still hasn’t been built.

Blake Lindsey called 11 News on Friday morning and said he warned Wallace that there would be a delay, because he had a death in the family and because his subcontractors would not be available in December.

He also said Wallace never tried to contact him to tell him she was dissatisfied and was planning to go to the police and the news media.

He said if she had, they could have worked something out.

But that’s not how the customer says things went down.

“Well I contacted him on several occasions to see if I could have the money back and he never called back,” Wallace said. “So then I called him after I had spoke to the constable’s office, and I told him that I was going to put an ad in the Katy Times and to contact the local news stations and after that he called back very angry and telling me not to expose him. and that I was making a bad name for him and that he was going to sue me.”

Blake Lindsey told 11 News that he would like nothing more than to go on camera and discuss all this, but his attorney has advised him not to do that as they get to work on the criminal charges against him.

He did say that his fencing business is legitimate and that he was shocked to hear about the arrest warrants and the severity of the complaint against him.
