05:45 PM CST on Wednesday, March 22, 2006
The family of a restaurant owner who was murdered with a machete is pleading for the public's to catch the killer. HPD Police believe Leon Andrade may be hiding out in North Carolina.
The brutal murder happened 10 days ago but the killer is still on the loose.
It's been an extremely difficult time for the Huang family whose lives were turned upside down on March 21.
William Huang was closing up his shop that Sunday night after celebrating his son's 10th birthday.
Police say that's when the estranged husband of one of the waitresses showed up. Leon Andrade allegedly began arguing with the waitress so Huang stepped in to try and break up the fight.
The suspect then ran to his truck, pulled out a machete and attacked the victim, according to police.
"He didn't just shoot my father he took a machete and just slayed him more than once," said Jade Wang. "He didn't even know my father. I mean how dangerous is that of a man?"
Jade Wang said her father's death is not only tough, but frustrating because the suspect is still on the run even though police have identified him.
Police believe Andrade is now hiding out in North Carolina.
He was last seen Friday, 50 miles outside of Atlanta where his van broke down. A passer-by apparently picked him up and drove him to a bus station.
Police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any information that could lead to Andrade's arrest.
