Houstonians watched a high-speed chase wind through the northeast side and unravel on Northline Tuesday afternoon.

But what started the wild chase that ended in the 7000 block of Northline when the suspects tried to get away on foot?

KHOU-TV

Deputies arrested three suspects in a chase Tuesday.

One woman had seen it all start, not on TV, but on her street.

"All of a sudden I saw a guy with a white t-shirt kick the door in real hard and then I saw them go in and start grabbing things, TV, electronics," said the Good Samaritan.

Peeking thru the blinds, she grabbed her glasses and a phone, telling 911 the layout of Greenfield Village.

"If you block both ends you're automatically gonna catch them and I let them know what kind of car they were in, 'cause the license plates were covered," she said.

That led Precinct 4 deputies to the car, but they couldn't stop it immediately.

The suspects tried to escape into the Concord Green apartments, but were outnumbered by authorities. The three are now in custody, as are the victim's possessions.

As deputies returned the stolen items, the alert neighbor watched with satisfaction. She too, has been a crime victim, losing something, someone far valuable than a TV.

"As he put his key in the door somebody walked up and shot him in the head and killed him," said the Good Samaritan.

Her 27-year-old died on her doorstep last year. It is why she is so vigilant.

She said she thought about her son when she did the good deed.

Her son's killer has yet to be caught.
