Charges filed against man who stopped traffic for marriage proposal

HOUSTON – The man who stopped traffic on I-45 Sunday to propose to his girlfriend will face charges.

Vidal Valladares has been charged with obstructing a highway, a class B misdemeanor.

An off-duty officer happened to see the proposal Sunday and he helped Houston police with the investigation.

The district attorney's office reviewed video of the proposal posted by the couple on Instagram and decided to accept charges.

Valladares' bride-to-be is not being charged.

The misdemeanor is punishable by up to six months in jail.
