04:23 PM CDT on Monday, July 2, 2007

From 11 News staff reports

Authorities are concerned about flooding along the Brazos River, which flows through Fort Bend and Brazoria counties before going into the Gulf.

According to the Fort Bend Offfice of Emergency Mangement, the river was at 40.36 feet in the Richmond area. Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, the river will crest at 43.6 feet. Flood stage, however, is 48 feet.

Then the river goes into Brazoria County, where it will cause flooding problems around the intersection at FM 1462 on Wednesday night into Thursday.

That's where the river narrows near Brazos Bend State Park. It will crest at 47 feet, a good 5 feet above flood stage.
