TOMBALL, TEXAS - A parent claimed to have seen a preschool teacher abuse several children last week at the Goddard School in Tomball.
The allegations are now under investigation, as is standard procedure in response to any abuse accusations, by the Childcare Licensing Division of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
Harris County Constable Precinct 4 as opened an investigation as well after Camille Brost called and made a report. No charges have been filed.
Brost told KHOU she saw the teacher screaming and then shoving and dragging young students in a classroom with the lights off on Nov. 22. She had been walking down a hallway to pick up her 4 year-old son from class.
“This teacher was yelling and screaming and pushed a little girl like you would push an adult in a fight," Brost said.
It wasn’t Brost’s son’s classroom, but it didn’t matter, especially when she said it got worse.
“Then she reaches in the back of the line and pulled two boys out by their arms over her shoulder backwards," she said.
Brost said she immediately told the administrative staff at the school, who assured her they would handle it. Brost confirmed she permanently removed her son from the school when she discovered the teacher was still on campus after the Thanksgiving holiday.
KHOU looked into the school’s history and found it had self-reported several incidents to the Texas Childcare Licensing Division in the past. During the 2016 year alone, the Texas Department of Family and Protective services investigated and cited three deficiencies.
The most recent was this past August for not meeting standards when supervising children. Another citation was in July when inspectors found that none of the caregivers present was CPR or First Aid certified. In February, an inspector found that a caregiver had been spanking children to discipline them.
“This cannot be allowed to happen. This cannot just be swept under the rug and pretend like it didn’t happen. We should not allow children to be frightened day in and day out by an adult who cannot control their temper,” Brost said.
In a statement, the Goddard School would confirm it was aware of the allegations and would not be commenting until the investigation was complete.
