HUMBLE, Texas – Four men were taken into custody after they were spotted breaking into a power equipment store in Humble early Wednesday, police said.
According to officers with the Humble Police Department, the break-in triggered an alarm at a business on FM-1960 near N. Houston around 3 a.m.
Two wrecker drivers in the area heard the call and followed the suspects as they fled the scene, police said.
Officers caught up with the men, who crashed their truck along the Eastex Freeway and Kingwood Drive. The suspects then bailed out and ran into some nearby woods.
Houston police, Humble police, and Harris County deputies searched for the suspects and eventually caught all four. All of the stolen items were recovered.
According to the store’s owner, his business was broken into three times in the last three months. Three weeks ago, burglars got away with about $16,000 worth of generators.
“You can’t beat that—another set of eyes—wrecker drivers are out all night long,” said Lt. Michael Nansel with the Humble Police Department. “We love it.”
