CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) -- A Conway father was killed early Friday when he was helping his daughter fix a flat tire.
According to police, 66-year-old Robert Lee Givens was shot to death as he drove along Donaghey Ave. near Independence Ave. around 12:30 a.m.
Givens' daughter told police she and her dad had been at Walmart puchasing "fix-a-flat" when a tan-colored SUV drove up behind them at Hairston Street and flashed its lights. Givens is said to have pulled over to speak to the driver; she told police she overheard the driver telling her dad that he thought he was someone else.
She and her father then reportedly drove off, but when they made it to Donaghey and Independence avenues, the driver of the SUV pulled up beside them and fired a shot that struck Givens.
Police said Givens' car crashed into the yard of a home nearby and the shooter left the scene. When officers arrived, Givens had passed away.
According to police, Givens' daughter described the driver as a young black man and the passenger a white woman. If you have any information on this case, you're asked to call police at (501) 450-6130. You can also anonymously text a tip to 274-637.
