ALVIN, Texas - Police are asking for the public's help finding a man who has been reported missing after he was last seen walking his dog.

Forrest Nearing, 39, was last known to be going to Chocolate Bayou in Brazoria County on Tuesday, August 30. He took his dog for a walk and never came home. Nearing has a wife and 5-month-old daughter.

The dog was found waiting for Nearing next to the bayou.

“From what we understand, he walked his dog all the time. His dog would never leave his sight,” said Tim Miller, Texas EquuSearch.

Miller said the dog appeared to be wet. That’s why teams have focused their search around the bayou.

“His wife Brittani is an educator. We’ve worked together for a long time. I’ve known Forrest for about 10 years,” said Eric Landgrebe, a volunteer with the search team. “Of course, nobody wants to deal with something like this. They’re a close family and they’re coping as well as they can.”

Nearing reportedly suffers from mental health issues.

If you have any information, you're asked to call the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office at (281) 756-2392 - or call Texas EquuSearch at (281) 309-9500.
