HOUSTON—A quick thinking neighbor helped catch two burglary suspects Tuesday in north Harris County.

The neighbor heard glass breaking on Cypress Island Drive around noon and called 911 immediately. Deputies arrested a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old. Investigators said the pair threw a brick through the kitchen window.

Investigators said the teens crawled in and started cleaning out the home.

“I was coming out of my house getting ready to go somewhere and saw cops,” said Jonathan Abrego, a neighbor.

The suspects parked a stolen white Cadillac in front of the house and started loading up. Authorities said the teenagers also tried to load up in the homeowner’s Escalade.

“They weren’t even able to fit the TV into the car. They tried. I believe is a 62-inch. It’s hard to get in. Tight space right here,” said Abrego.

The thieves left the television behind because it didn’t fit in the cars. While they were loading up, Precinct 4 deputy constables showed up with their police dog.

“The dog was going crazy in the attic. We announced we are about to put the dog in the attic if you don’t come down. Both suspects did give up.  We’ve had problems with burglaries in the area,” said Assistant chief Woody Mitchell.

Now investigators are trying to figure out if the teenagers are connected to other burglaries.
