PASADENA, Texas—A wrong-way driver was airlifted to the hospital early Friday after slamming into an 18-wheeler in Pasadena.
Pasadena police said a pickup truck was traveling the wrong direction on Highway 225 at Richey, going westbound in the eastbound lanes, when the driver slammed into an 18-wheeler around 12:45 a.m.
The 18-wheeler tried to avoid the pickup, but couldn’t.
The pickup driver was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious condition.
The big rig driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The rear axle on the big rig was broken, so heavy-duty wreckers were called in to help clear the scene.
