HOUSTON – Several employees hid as burglars broke into a Sellers Bros grocery store in northeast Houston early Thursday, police say.

The break-in was reported around 3 a.m. in the 1500 block of Little York Road near E. Hardy Road, according to officers with the Houston Police Department.

Police said two to four men kicked in the front door’s glass and then took phones and laptops.

“The males broke out several glass display cabinets,” said HPD Lt. Larry Crowson. “They fled the area before officers arrived.”

It’s believed the men also tried to pry open the store’s ATM before giving up and speeding away in a gray minivan.

While the crime was taking place, one of the workers who hid pulled out a cell phone and dialed 911.

No injuries were reported.

This is the same Sellers Bros that was broken into on Jan. 14. Two suspects were apprehended in that break-in.
