THE WOODLANDS, Texas—Woodlands restaurants will be participating for the first time in Restaurant Weeks to benefit the Montgomery County Food Bank. From now through Aug. 31, all of the donations raised from area restaurants will go directly to the county’s local Food Bank.
The program was started a decade ago in Houston by Cleverley Stone, who chairs the annual event to fight hunger in the community. Hunger is prevalent in every community.
The Montgomery County Food Bank is currently filling 30,000 requests for food each month; 40 percent are children, and 10 percent are seniors.
Woodlands restaurants participating in Restaurant Weeks include America’s, Amerigo’s Grille, Landry’s Seafood Restaurant, and Perry’s Grille & Steakhouse.
Margie Taylor, Marketing Director of the Montgomery County Food Bank, said, “We’d like to see more restaurants participate in the program. We’ve reached out to the Greater Montgomery County Restaurant Association for their assistance in getting more restaurants involved.”
