HOUSTON — A woman’s car was shot at several times in a drive-by shooting Wednesday in Cypress.
The shooting happened at about 9:11 a.m. in front of Brentwood Children’s Academy located in the 6900 block of Huffmeister Road.
As soon as the day care employees heard the gun shots all 75 children were put on lockdown.
“Pop pop pop that was it, we immediately went into our hallway and everyone knows what to do,” said Courtney Gray, who works at the daycare.
The woman in the vehicle that was shot at ended up driving about 8 miles to 10750 Barker Cypress where she called 911 and her brother.
“He was frustrated, a little bit angry too,” said Henry Peerava, who saw the victim’s brother.
Horne Elementary and Truitt Middle School were briefly placed in “secure building mode,” due to the police activity in the area, school officials said. The school followed a normal schedule, but no one was allowed in or out of the schools during that time.
There were no reports of injuries.
The suspect vehicle was described as a silver car with New York license plates. The victim said four men were inside the vehicle.
