HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -– A woman was in extremely critical condition late Monday after being hit by a small SUV on Highway 6, deputies said.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened near Clay Road around 10:30 p.m.
Investigators said the woman and her husband ate at a nearby restaurant and later realized they lost their cell phone. At first the woman looked over the parking lot before stepping onto to the highway to look for the phone.
Deputies said the woman was wearing dark clothing, and by the time an approaching driver saw her, it was too late to avoid hitting her.
Life Flight was called in to take the woman to the hospital.
No charges were expected to be filed against the driver of the SUV.
