FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas -- Neighbors say they helped a woman who was injured in an incident involving her boyfriend early Thursday.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 7300 block of Windy Port Lane south of the Cinco Ranch subdivision before sunrise.

A neighbor, who is also an officer with the Houston Police Department, tells KHOU 11 News he heard a commotion outside and found bystanders trying to help the woman, who was under her boyfriend’s car.

“We lifted the car, and she got out – she didn’t know what happened,” said Richard Michael. “She had blood on her, but she came out and was walking fine. She was still in shock, and then the ambulance took her.”

Witnesses said it appeared the woman got into an altercation with her boyfriend, and she was injured as she went to get out of his vehicle. The vehicle kept going and hit a pickup truck, which then hit a garage.

By the time the rescue was complete, the woman’s boyfriend was gone, witnesses said.

A spokesman for the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office said both the victim and her boyfriend are 23 years old.

Deputies said the boyfriend later showed up at the sheriff’s office and was questioned by investigators. He was not charged as the investigation is on-going.

The woman was later released from the hospital.
