HARRIS COUNTY – The Harris County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of a house fire from late Friday night in Memorial Parkway.

Investigators said that at about 11:45 p.m. the West I-10 Fire Department responded to a house fire in 1000 block of Park Bud Lane near Park Wick Lane.

When they arrive, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the front door of the home. They were able to put the fire out quickly.

Firefighters said the homeowner, who is an elderly woman, was already outside of the home when they arrived. However, she told them her small dog was still in the home.

Firefighters found the dog in the house, but the animal was not breathing. Efforts to resuscitate the dog were unsuccessful.
