HOUSTON — A woman with autism who was left in a hot van by her care provider has died from her injuries.

Rebekah Harkins, 57, was on life support for more than a month after being found outside the Sean Ashley House in southwest Houston.

Investigators said she had been in the van for five hours. Her family said Harkins also had injuries that were not heat related.

The Sean Ashley House said it is cooperating with the Houston Police Department’s investigation.
