HOUSTON –- A woman slammed into the back of an 18-wheeler stopped at a red light early Tuesday, shutting down the Katy Freeway westbound frontage road for several hours, police said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Houston Police Department, it was around 2 a.m. when the woman hit the truck’s trailer at the Grand Parkway intersection. Her silver sedan wedged under the big rig, and she died at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.
There was no early word on what caused the woman to hit the truck.
As of 6:30 a.m. crews were still working to reopen on the frontage road. It should be cleared out of the way by 7 a.m.
