HOUSTON—A woman charged with kidnapping a toddler in January was given eight years deferred adjudication Tuesday to avoid a trial.
On Jan. 10 Houston police issued an Amber Alert for 2-year-old Alizae Mata. It was cancelled later that night after the girl was found alive and safe.
The child was last seen the day before with her uncle’s girlfriend, 22-year-old Jessenia Saldana. They were supposed to return later on in the day but never came back.
Around 11:30 p.m. the next night police were able to track down Saldana and the toddler at an apartment complex in the 8400 block of Broadway.
Alizae was quickly reunited with her mother and Saldana was arrested and charged with kidnapping.
