HOUSTON (AP) -- A Houston woman and her boyfriend have been charged with felony child endangerment counts after their dog mauled her 1-year-old granddaughter.
Patricia Palmer Luddecke and Larry Martinez are free on $2,000 bond after they were charged Thursday. Their listed telephone has been disconnected.
The criminal complaint says the child’s mother left her daughter with Luddecke and Martinez on Thursday. She later received a call from Luddecke, who told her she was taking the child to the hospital after she fell off a bed.
Doctors found the child with a severe facial laceration. Police say the couple offered inconsistent statements. The Houston Chronicle reports police found the couple’s dog to be aggressive and concluded it had mauled the child because it wasn’t properly supervised.
