Woman arrested on DWI charge after crashing into officer near Hermann Park

HOUSTON -– Police say a woman was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after she crashed into an officer’s patrol car early Thursday.

The crash happened shortly before 1 a.m. on Almeda Road near Camden Drive, according to the Houston Police Department.

HPD said one of its officers was traveling northbound on Almeda near Hermann Park when a driver in an Audi sedan started traveling down the wrong side of the road. The officer attempted to avoid the driver, but she managed to clip the patrol car. The officer then lost control and went into a ditch.

Neither the suspect nor the officer was hurt.

The woman was taken into custody without further incident.
