HOUSTON – A 20-year-old woman is accused of pushing her elderly grandmother to the ground after being caught rummaging through her purse, according to court documents.
Chanda Altoneese Cordray is charged with injury to an elderly individual with bond set at $5,000.
According to an affidavit from the Houston Police Department, on April 13, the victim said that Cordray was upset that she was unable to pick up her last paycheck from a job she recently quit.
The victim told her that she would not be giving her anymore money. Afterwards, Cordray allegedly went into the victim’s bedroom where her grandmother kept her purse.
The victim stood in the hallway as Cordray rummaged through the purse, and told her granddaughter that she would call police if she took any money, the affidavit states.
Cordray then walked up to the victim in the hallway and pushed her causing her to fall to the ground, the affidavit states. Cordray allegedly told her not to get up.
The victim got up after Cordray left and felt she had injured her arm. She said that she did not want to get police involved at first, but then called her daughter about the incident. The victim’s daughter then called police and took the victim to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Victim suffered a forearm fracture from the incident, the affidavit states.
