HOUSTON - A cowboy from Hockley is a champ once again after Fred Whitfield won the 2013 RodeoHouston BP Super Series Tie-Down Roping Championship Saturday at Reliant Stadium.
Whitfield, an eight-time champion, won with a time of 7.8 seconds as he secured a young calf. His 2013 Super Series winnings totaled $57,000.
“If you’re not emotional when you win $50,000, something is wrong with you,” Whitfield said. “The way the crowd reacted when I started raising the roof… it’s just an overwhelming feeling.”
Rounding out the top four in the shootout (total 2013 RODEOHOUSTON winnings)
